The three Q&A questions are:
1. What do you believe are the major issues facing IEEE?
Global relevancy, pursuit of new members, and adaption to challenges, like Open Access and Open Stand are essential to IEEE. The IEEE must be relevant to the global community through strategic alliances between existing global societies, academic, industries and the IEEE to create mutually beneficial opportunities. IEEE must focus on Region 10, while reviving Regions 1-6. The IEEE must increase and retain undergraduates and graduate members. The IEEE must adapt to the trends of Open Access, while encouraging networking and sharing technical contributions. The IEEE should educate membership and corporate executives on the value of supporting Open Stand for standards.
2. What do you think the number one goal is for IEEE leadership?
To prepare the IEEE for the future, through relevancy and service to a global community. Further, to provide strategic oversight that protects and represents the interests of IEEE members.
3. What qualifies you for the job?
Perhaps most importantly, I desire to serve, and I have a bias for action. I have successfully served on multiple boards and technical advisory boards of public and private companies. I held senior executive and technical positions in large corporations and startups, including telecom, cable, game platforms and enterprise. I advised numerous venture capital firms in Silicon Valley. I served as president of the IEEE CE Society, on the IEEE AdComs of the Broadcast and CE Societies, and held several IEEE VP positions. My desire is to serve the IEEE in global and domestic growth, industrial relevancy and technological leadership.
The Q&A deadline is Friday, 31 May. The word count for each question is 100 words. We will be including your photo, affiliation and personal website URL if one was provided to us.
