The IEEEFRN Day, held on November 29, 2024, at the Rectorate Auditorium of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN), successfully gathered approximately 120 participants to discuss the role of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in promoting research and innovation.

The technical agenda featured lectures on strategic topics, including “Innovations in Oil & Gas Automation” by Professor André Laurindo Maitelli (UFRN) and presentations on female participation in STEM by Professor João Teixeira and student Emanuela Pereira. The event also strengthened regional collaboration, with presentations from the IEEE Student Branches of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), as well as the UFRN Women in Engineering (WIE) affinity group.

The event concluded with the launch of an official call (edital) to sponsor IEEE memberships for IFRN students and staff. This initiative is designed to accelerate the formation of an IFRN Student Branch and provide institutional access to the IEEE scientific database, thereby enhancing the research and innovation capabilities at the institute.
